Very good food and awesome customer service. We enjoyed our meals; the portions are well worth it. Everyone left full and with no complaints. The peach cobbler was delicious! We will be back for more.

The sides Do not have flavor.. the portions are great but nothing had flavor it was bland.. The mashed potatoes had no salt or butter Black eye peas no flavor Pot salad had more mayo than anything. No seasoningIt had no soul in this food.

I drove across town and waited in line for an hour because they were out of most of the items on the menu. After selecting my 3rd choice baked chicken (because they were out of my first 2) I had to wait on cornbread. I was told they didn’t know how long it would take and gave me a roll instead. But I just wanted to wait for my order to be correct. When the cornbread came up they only gave me half the cornbread for my order then Mike wanted to charge me extra for the roll I didn’t want. I had already paid almost $40 for 2 meals and waited an hour to get my takeout order. Mike went back thru my take out order with an attitude and had the preparer throw out the roll they put in there by mistake. I will think twice before driving across town to support this minority owned business again. Next time I’ll just get a Rotisserie chicken from Sams for $5. It will save me money and the attitude.

I really enjoyed my overall experience Madea's Down Home Cooking. I made the 45 minute drive from Mesquite Tx it was definitely worth it. The plates are very well portion.

We have had food delivered every day for a week. Everything we received was great, hot and on time. This is the food I grew up eating. We are a family of five and couldn't eat it all. Medea's makes sure no one leaves hungry. It reminds me of grandma's.

May family visit for the first time. My husband had the Ox tails, that he said was not good. His sides were black eye peas that he said were not good and okra and tomatoes which were the only thing he ate. My daughter had the Chicken Fried Chicken, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and cabbage. The only thing she had ate was here Chicken Fried Chicken. And for me I had the 6 piece Fried Catfish mac and cheese cucumber tomato salad. I ate my Catfish and cucumber salad. I didn't get my tomatoe and okra nor did I get my peach cobbler. So I paid for everything but 2 items were left out. My tip is before you leave the grounds check your bag. Customer service was wonderful!!!!!!!

Having lunch with my Niece Chyna. I have Ox Tails collard Greens broccoli and rice casserole and Macaroni and cheese My first time ever eating Oxtails their so good !!!!

The customer service was great and the food was hot, fresh and simply delicious with very large servings. I will definitely share and return.

This place is the truth! You get your money's worth at Madea's. Fresh, hot & cooked to order fried options. Chicken wings were so crispy and juicy!!! Everything is seasoned to perfection, great staff, clean restaurant and lots of great options to choose from. Big momma would be proud. From yams, greens, macaroni n cheese, cabbage, black eyed peas, hot water cornbread, peach cobbler, chicken fried steak, fish, chicken wings and more! Can't get enough!

When I think about Madea’s I think great customer service, clean, great food, great prices, great portions. This establishment is definitely a jewel. I don’t eat pork and I’m so happy they don’t cook their sides with pork. I been going for years and the experience is always the same. They don’t just act like your money. When you walk through their you’re family. I took my brother when he came to visit me. I told him Madea’s is the only soul food place I go to. I tried others but I need more than just your lemonade good. Once my brother tried this place he definitely understood why I only go to them. He said he’ll never eat catfish any other place.

Waiting 1 1/2 hours for food is ridiculous regardless of the quality! I have been here before, but i have never had to wait this long. Do better!

I ordered a 10 piece fish but only received 9 pieces. My sides were good (mac & cheese, yams & dressing) Banana pudding was good but not enough cookies. Peach Cobbler we going to pray for that one.. My family of 5 $100 to eat good soul food wasn't bad.. 4 orders of dessert (2 banana pudding & 2 peach cobbler).

I can never share a picture of my food when I visit this place because as soon as I open the box I'm digging in!! Great food! The line can be long but so worth it....even if they forget to give you your cornbread.

I loved it here. Its a very cozy and very inviting. The food is very good. And the portions are remarkable for the price. You definitely don't have to worry about what your going to eat later because more than likely you will take home half the plate. Im coming back again. No thought about it. They have such an array on their menu that i dont have to worry about eating the same thing twice. This time i had the smothered pork chops with rice gravy cabbage and mac and cheese.. Maybe next time it will be the oxtails and rice black eyed peas and cucumbers and tomatoes... Who knows!!! You should definitely stop by this place.

We had the coconut chicken and firecracker shrimp combo today for dinner. It was made fresh to order and super tasty. Flavors were on point! I had no idea this place was right down the road from us, but I’m glad we found it. We’ll be back.

There was so much food on my plate that I had enough for 2 days plus a little extra. Waited a little over an hour in line but that mac and cheese was worth it alone. The staff is so sweet and friendly. Definitely a down home country feel where everyone is welcomed. The food is so good. I had fried pork chops, mac and cheese, greens, broccoli casserole and hot water cornbread. 🤗😍

I am currently in the parking lot waiting for my food. They are practicing social distancing and only allowing 4 customers in at a time to order. The line is moving rather fast. However I asked the gentleman outside passing out menus if there was another way to order because I have my newborn in the car with me and didn’t want to wake him or expose him to this Texas heat. He went inside and shortly afterwards someone came out to take my order with a handheld machine. I was able to order from my car and they will be bringing my food out to me. I’m so thankful because I drove 20min and was having some anxiety about navigating the ordering process with the baby in tow. So basically-EXCELLENT SERVICE! I’ve been here before so I know the food is 5 star too!

First time visitor. Home cooked soul food. Food was tasty, but the Kool-Aid was a bit too sweet for me. I simply diluted it with water. I will definitely visit again and try something new on the menu.

INCREDIBLY GOOD FOOD! Yes, I'm shouting... it's that tasty! Friendly, welcoming staff make you feel right at home and the vittles blow me away every time we visit. Faves: Smothered Pork chops; Oxtails (expensive but HUGE servings); Fried Catfish; Beef Tips; Cabbage; Black Eyed Peas; Greens; Broccoli and Rice Casserole.

2 years ago a coworker told me about Madea's and I'm glad she did. The best home cooked meals ever! They offer vegetable plates! I really like that because sometimes I just be wanting some yams or collards lol

Inquired about possibly having them cater for my mom’s wedding. I received a response; however, NONE of my questions were answered. It seemed like the responder didn’t bother to read my message because a generic response was provided. I sent a follow-up email and NEVER heard anything again. I raved about Madea’s prior to this incident, but that right there put a bad taste in my mouth. I tried to support a black business but oh well cause I will never consider them again. The food is great but it doesn’t outweigh this poor service.

I dont know if I'll ever find another soul food place better than here! They pack enormous amounts of the most delicious foods on your plate.. even the cakes and pies are intense in flavor! Super super clean, family friendly, perfect climate as far as temperature, it feels like your eating with family.. every single thing cooked there is home cooking.. I mean the gravy is homemade and incredibly flavorful.. I could go on and on.. the portions are BIG.. you wont be disappointed.

Great food as always. Social distancing and masks were worn. Long line so it took awhile to get the food and they forgot one of our sides but over all good experience and good service

I had the Turkey and dressing, greens, yams, hot water cornbread. Everything was great! However the dressing was a little too salty, greens wear a little too sweet than usual. Great portions! Ordered mines to go. Service was pleasantly great for the amount of people they had waiting outside to place an order. I advise anyone going on a Sunday to call it in instead. Owner was extremely friendly and working hard as he's worker's. Don't see this often in businesses.

The food is not very hot; it sits on the "hotplate" which only keeps it warm. I had to ask that it be heated in microwave. The taste is delicious and portions are decent. I think that $20 for oxtails is pricey especially when the "juice" it's in is basically water.

The food is amazing and I love how pleasant the employees are. They are meticulous about keeping the food line clean, which is always a good thing!
